My apologies for the sparse posting since Wednesday. It’s been a busy week, and I’ve been working on a few items that decided to delay for various reasons.
For today, however, make sure to check out Professor Franklin’s latest update to his job approval graphic that now includes the latest surveys from AP/IPSOS (article, results) and Fox News/Opinion Dynamics (article, results). Franklin’s trend lines indicate that the Bush approval rating “has continued to decline [during March], though at a slower rate than in February.”
Franklin also highlighted the result with potentially the greatest political consequence. As AP’s Ron Fournier put it:
On an issue the GOP has dominated for decades, Republicans are now locked in a tie with Democrats — 41 percent each — on the question of which party people trust to protect the country.
This result was probably what produced the polling quote of the day – you’ve probably already seen it – from Republican pollster
“These numbers are scary. We’ve lost every advantage we’ve ever had,” GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio said. “The good news is Democrats don’t have much of a plan. The bad news is they may not need one.”
I’ve had you on RSS feed for months and ought to stop and say thanks now and then. So, thanks!
Fabrizio is right, Dems have no plan, and apparently don’t think they need one. Petty carping and mostly silence has sufficed for them for two terms now and why should we think they’ll change? When a dem does rear up on hind legs to bray, the rest of the herd shuffles about in an embarrassed silence. Feingold tries to muster support for a weak rebuke…silence. They kick Dean upstairs to keep him from speaking truth on the campaign trail. They let weepin’ Joe Lieberman stay in the party to undercut any hope of honest opposition. Will Rogers was right, he wasn’t a member of an organised party, he was a democrat. Rove and the pResident’s crew set the agendas and control the debate, and the dems just shuffle along, straight into the ditch, so afraid of losing voters they never had and never will, they refuse to engage even little Nero’s most obvious lies and distortions. Impeach him? Sure, President Cheney would have quite a laugh over that turn of events.
